Philadelphia-based Zarwin Baum DeVito Kaplan Schaer & Toddy has added Sharif Street to its transactional practice group.
Street, the son of former Philadelphia Mayor John Street, was an associate at Wolf Block until its implosion in March 2009.
Since then, he has served as of counsel to the Walker Law Firm in Philadelphia and run for state representative for the 190th Legislative District.
“We thought the combination of his client base and governmental contacts with our client base sounded like one and one makes three,” said Mitchell Kaplan, managing shareholder of the firm.
Street, who joined the firm Sept. 27, said he was interested in Zarwin Baum because it gives him the opportunity to work within a larger network of attorneys and market that additional expertise to his clients.
He also said Zarwin Baum allows him to maintain the price flexibility he had as of counsel, a position he said basically amounted to a solo practice.
Street, whose practice primarily focuses on real estate, zoning, commercial transactions, government relations and telecommunications, said he also recently added plaintiffs work to his repertoire.
